BIGKEYS ANNOUNCES "BIGKEYS and iPAD" PROMOTION
BIGKEYS, MAINSTAY OF ASSISTIVE TEHCNOLOGY FOR DESKTOP AND LAPTOP COMPUTERS, WORKS WITH iPAD TOO!
CHARLOTTE, NC -- September 1, 2012 --
“If you need a BigKeys for your desktop or notebook computer, you need a BigKeys for your iPad!”, Jon Wagstrom said today. Mr. Wagstrom, who is the president of Greystone Digital Inc., maker of BigKeys keyboards, announced a promotion emphasizing that their BigKeys LX computer keyboards work well with Apple iPad tablet computers.
BigKeys keyboards are popular with a wide variety of computer users, including people with tremor or with visual impairments; those with motor impairments; and computer users with especially large hands. In addition, because BigKeys keyboards can be arranged in ABC or QWERTY key order, educators find Bigkeys keyboards useful for the very youngest computer users, as well adults who have never used a keyboard before.
BigKeys keyboards are standard-size computer keyboards with very large keys. The keys are 1-inch square - 4 times bigger than a standard keyboard's keys - with lettering over a half-inch tall.
Mr. Wagstrom said that “many computer users find BigKeys useful - and even essential - in accessing their computers at home, at school, and at work.” Because BigKeys keyboards are extremely durable - Wagstrom noted that BigKeys keyboards survive all kinds of wear and tear - they carry a 5-year warranty.
“Our keyboards have internal steel frames, and the keys are high-quality, mechanical switches tested to over 10-million keystrokes,” Mr. Wagstrom said. “BigKeys are solid, durable keyboards. That's because we know that for some of our assistive technology users, their BigKeys keyboard is absolutely crucial. So we build 'em to take quite a thumping. Once, a customer actually managed to run over a BigKeys LX with her car! Although damaged, it still worked.”
In announcing Greystone’s BigKeys / iPad promotion, Mr. Wagstrom said that in the current rush to implement educational programs featuring iPads, sometimes Special Education students are not considered. Students with “visual impairments or motor control issues, or multiple physical impairments” may have a hard time using the iPad’s touch screen and touch keyboard. “A BigKeys LX is a perfect solution,” Wagstrom said.
He demonstrated that the BigKeys LX, a USB keyboard, can be connected to an iPad using Apple’s “Camera Connection Kit”. The current Greystone promotion offers a free Apple Camera Connection Kit with any BigKeys LX. The Camera Connection Kit normally retails for $33.00 at the www.bigkeys.com site.
The BigKeys LX keyboard’s features are described on the Greystone Digital website: www.bigkeys.com. All BigKeys keyboards are compatible with all major software packages. No special software is required: the keyboard is just plugged into the computer in place of the regular keyboard.
Big Keys LX has a suggested retail price of $159. Greystone Digital Inc. is based in Huntersville, NC, near Charlotte. Detailed keyboard descriptions and pictures can found at www.bigkeys.com.
